Sunkissed by Dalida at Copacabana

Hello music lovers!

Sorry I didn’t post all weekend but I was too sick to create and post my mashups. No worries, I feel way better now and I am ready to show you some crazy mix.

While I was sick, I looked outside the window and realised that I was also sick of Glasgow’s rainy and windy weather! I needed a wee bit of sun in my life. This is why today’s mashup is full of it.

I decided to sing 4 Dalida songs over the french version of the music Copacabana by Line Renaud. (https://youtu.be/Rzg1Zgy3RoE)

My grandmother was a big fan of Dalida, she transmitted her passion for her to my mother who then transmitted it to me. She was an italian singer and actress born in Egypt who then lived in France. I love her accent when she sings in French. It makes French sound even better. The way she rolls the “R” makes French exotic to me even though it is my mother tongue!

The songs I chose to mix together are the following:

-Il venait d’avoir 18 ans (https://youtu.be/zyDZc8QDlYY)

-Paroles Paroles (https://youtu.be/LYAvhujK4nA)

-Laissez Moi Danser (https://youtu.be/dnWkFwPQdr0)

-Gigi L’Amoroso (https://youtu.be/9X-eqDmJ8CQ)

They don’t talk about the same things at all. But they each tell a different story. In her songs, Dalida likes to tell stories, whether they are personal or someone else’s. This is why I chose to sing those Dalida songs over Copacabana. It tells a story as well. Moreover, all these songs have a really happy and exotic instrumental, which make you want to dance under the sunset on a beach.

Here is the mashup. I decided to name it: “Sunkissed by Dalida at Copacabana”

Hope you’ll like it 😉
