Hello music lovers!
Today’s theme is: “the nostalgia of a past love story/partner”. It took me some time to decide the theme of this mashup. Indeed, at first I just wanted to mix together songs that only had a ukulele as a background.
But as the only two songs in that category that I knew were Somewhere over the Rainbow and Riptide, I had to widen up my theme a wee bit. I extended it to guitar songs. Obviously, it was too wide. So I chose guitar songs that I thought were ukulele songs! And I realise they all talked about the same thing.
I decided to put four songs in this mashup. The first one is Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (https://youtu.be/V1bFr2SWP1I). I only put the first verse, to set the tone. Starting with this song shows that this mashup will be a chill one compared to yesterday’s.
The next song that I chose was Hey there Delilah by Plain White T’s (https://youtu.be/h_m-BjrxmgI). This song talks about a long distance love. I liked the chill vibe of it. When the artist says “listen to my voice and close your eyes”, you do as you’re told and get transported by his words and the sound of the guitar. If you feel nostalgic, this song takes you back to what or who you miss in a peaceful way. It brings back the happy memories, not the sad ones.
The third song is Hey Ya! It is the version by Obadiah Parker (https://youtu.be/8ejeEBlDESc). It matches the other songs’ vibes unlike the original one which is much more fast. I discovered this song in a French movie called “L’amour c’est mieux à deux”. This song is played right at the moment where the two main characters miss each other and remember the good times they had together. It is joyful yet a bit sad. Exactly like the songs I chose for this mashup.
I sing these three songs over Riptide by Vance Joy (https://youtu.be/uJ_1HMAGb4k). It is the ultimate ukulele song and one of my favorites. I could go on about the merits of this song but I’m just going to let you listen to it.
Here is today’s mashup! Don’t drown in this puddle of nostalgia!
Hope you’ll like it! 😉
