Introduction to the blog

Hi music lovers!

This is my very first post on this blog about mashups. I want to start this blog by telling you how I got this idea and what you’ll see here in the upcoming days.

The first mashup I really loved was by Dj Earworm “Mashup-United State of Pop 2014 (Do what you wanna do” :

It is a mix of all the songs that I liked at the time. I thought the idea of mixing a bunch of songs together to create a new one was magic. I kept listening to this Dj’s other mashups over the years. I then discovered new artists who were mixing songs too, but in a different way. For example, the french group L.E.J made mashups of summer songs by singing them over a cello background:

Summer 2015 and 2016 are my favorites. I know them by heart. One of their other mashup, which is a rap one (https://youtu.be/lvoz-fSze8s), inspired me to do the same thing but with only Macklemore songs, at my high school concert in april 2019:

It was a really great experience. I realised that I liked mixing songs together. I tried doing it like Dj Earworm with my laptop, but unfortunately, I am no Dj. I then thought about doing it like L.E.J but I don’t play any instruments. But then I found this mashup by Conor Maynard and Madison Beer:

In this video, they are singing lyrics from popular songs over the karaoke version of Dusk Till Dawn by Zayn and Sia.

I loved the idea and I decided to do the same with songs and artists of my choice. It was a real challenge! Certainly not as easy as Conor and Madison make it sound.

So this is what you’ll be seeing in the next few days. I’ll be posting about how and why I chose to mash up these songs together. And then, I will link my creations that I will have posted on my Youtube Channel, to the blog post.
